A. General Operation
基本操作
The solenoid thermostat continuously senses the temperature of the air delivered downstream Precooler Heat Exchanger of the bleed air system and monitors the differential pressure between the upstream side of the Bleed Pressure Regulating Valve and the downstream side of precooler.
电磁恒温器持续感测引气系统预冷却器热交换器下游输送空气的温度,并监控引气压力调节活门上游侧与预冷却器下游侧之间的压差。
It limits the air delivery through the bleed air system by controlling the closing of the Bleed Pressure Regulating Valve pneumatically.

The solenoid thermostat covers the following functions:

(1) Overheat Function (Refer to Figure 7)

If the temperature of the air delivery rises to a predetermined level, the tube of stick expands and causes the invar rod to move. The invar rod which acts as a clapper causes the Bleed Pressure Regulating Valve coupling line to leak. This leak causes the Bleed Pressure Regulating Valve to regulate a lower pressure.
如果空气温度上升到预定水平,感应管(杆)就会膨胀并导致不膨胀杆移动。作为阀芯功能的不膨胀杆会导致PRV耦合管路漏气。这种泄漏导致PRV调节较低的压力。
(2) Non-return Function (Refer to Figure 8 and Figure 9)

If the pressure differential, sensed by Diaphragm S-A between the air supply downstream precooler and that upstream bleed pressure regulating valve, drops below a predetermined value due to a reverse flow causing a sudden increase in pressure downstream the bleed air system, Diaphragm S-A is caused to move by spring .

The air pressure is thus admitted into the solenoid chamber, causing core and in turn springloaded Clapper S-A to move up and vent the pressure from the Bleed Pressure Regulating Valve coupling line, which in turn is caused to close.

(3) Electrical Closing Function (Refer to Figure 10)

When coil of Solenoid S-A is energized by means of electrical connector , core moves up and, because of spring load, enables Clapper S-A to leave its seat and thus to vent the coupling line, causing the Bleed Pressure Regulating Valve to close.
当电磁阀组件的线圈通过电气连接器通电时,铁芯上移,在弹簧的作用下,阀芯组件离开阀座,从而对耦合管路进行排气,导致PRV关闭。
(4) Differential Pressure Limitation (Refer to Figure 8 and Figure 11)

The Regulator S-A limits the pressure differential between the pressure prevailing on both sides of the Diaphragm S-A.

(a) Rise in the pressure downstream Precooler Heat Exchanger

Pressure which moves up the Diaphragm S-A causes clapper (A) to open. This pressure which is ducted to the other side of the Diaphragm S-A tends to balance pressures on both sides of the Diaphragm S-A.

(b) Rise in the pressure upstream Bleed Pressure Regulating Valve

The upstream pressure causes clapper (B) to open.

It is ducted to the other side of the Diaphragm S-A and discharged downstream precooler, thus relieving the differential pressure on the two sides of the Diaphragm S-A.

If the bleed pressure regulating valve upstream pressure becomes excessive, safety valve relieves the Diaphragm S-A by venting this pressure.

The solenoid thermostat is installed in the pressure control and limitation section of the engine air bleed system. It causes the former to close to limit the pressure delivered by the air bleed system.

ENGINE BLEED AIR SUPPLY SYSTEM – DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1 . General

The purpose of the engine bleed air supply system is to:
– select one of the two different compressor stages of the engine HP compressor in agreement with the supplied pressure
– regulate the bleed air pressure in order to prevent too high pressures
– regulate the bleed air temperature in order to prevent too high temperatures.

The bleed pressure regulator valve is installed in the duct downstream of the IP bleed check valve and the HP bleed valve . The bleed pressure regulator valve also operates pneumatically but opening and closing can be controlled by a bleed pressure regulator valve control solenoid (10HA). The solenoid is installed in the duct downstream of the bleed air precooler exchanger (7150HM). The solenoid controls the bleed pressure regulator valve which controls the HP bleed valve at the same time.

(1) The bleed pressure regulator valve control solenoid is installed downstream of the precooler exchanger to control the bleed pressure regulator valve. It includes :
– a thermostat body assy
– a solenoid sub-assembly
– a non-return sub-assembly

(a) Temperature Limitation
温度限制
When the temperature downstream of bleed air precooler exchanger increases and reaches 235 deg.C (455 deg.F), the INVAR rod in the sensing tube starts to open the rod valve by differential dilatation. This cause a modification of the butterfly position of the bleed pressure regulator valve which tends to close to reduce the downstream pressure . If the temperature increases up to 245 deg.C (473 deg.F) the rod valve will be full open and the bleed pressure limited to 17.5 psig.

(b) Closure of bleed pressure regulator valve

When the solenoid is energized, its valve moves away from its seal and vents the bleed pressure regulator valve which closes. When the solenoid is not energized, the solenoid valve is spring-loaded closed.

NOTE : The Bleed Pressure Regulator Valve Control Solenoid has no direct effect on the HP Bleed Valve (HPV) operation. The HP Bleed Valve would also close because the Bleed Valve (PRV) closure would vent to ambient the signal pressure in the sense line between the Bleed Valve and the HP Bleed Valve.
注:控制恒温器对HPV的操作没有直接影响。因为PRV关闭会将PRV和HPV之间感应管路中的信号压力排放至环境中,此时HPV也会关闭。
(c) Non-return function
止回功能
The regulator diaphragm detects a differential pressure between downstream precooler exchanger and upstream pressure regulator valve.
调节器膜片检测预冷却器交换器下游和PRV上游之间的压差。
When the difference between upstream and downstream pressure (Delta P) is lower than or equal to 10 mba, the diaphragm moves and opens the solenoid valve, causing the closure of the bleed pressure regulator valve.
当上下游压差(Delta P)低于或等于 10 mba时,膜片移动并打开电磁阀,从而导致PRV关闭。
